From one resident to another....

This morning I received the following email from one of our residents.  I think you will understand why I am sharing it with you now....

A Gift that Keeps on Giving

For many years, the Employee Appreciation Fund has been one of the ways we residents have said to our staff, “We see you, we value you, and we are grateful for all you do.”

I remember one year, during a difficult economy, when a supervisor told us something I have never forgotten. She said our gifts often became gifts that kept on giving. An employee might use part of the money to buy a coat for someone at church, or shoes for a child next door who had outgrown theirs.

That touched me deeply. I realized that when we are generous to our staff, our generosity often reaches far beyond LVE. Because we gave to them, they were able to give to someone else.

I suspect most of us never know the quiet and unselfish ways our gifts are used.

In recent years, it seems to me that the EAF may not have received quite the same attention it once did. Perhaps COVID changed some things. Perhaps our community has simply changed over time.

But I hope you will join me in remembering something important about who we are as residents of LVE: we are people who care for those who care for us.

Thank you for helping keep that spirit of generosity alive.

May God bless you this day.

From one grateful neighbor to another….
